A Rare Insight into How World Opinion is Shaped

Most people consider their views their own. But every now or then, circumstances arise to uncover that the public is presented with a viewpoint that seems to be universally accepted. Surely, it must be correct - the whole world is speaking with the same voice! But do the facts reflect the message? If Americans wish to truly understand world opinion, they need to delve into the realm of the foreign press. Images move emotions, while the written word shapes the prejudices. Current events are written about for one primary reason, to define the meaning of the event. Only the highly motivated and the most inquiring minds will investigate the facts for themselves. The majority will read the headlines, the leads and that is usually enough for them. The legendary "Fleet Street" is still the master of the composed attack.

There Is No Conspiracy - Only Official Policy

Recent events out of Venezuela are disquieting. For world travelers who's closest contact with the south continent are holidays in Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao - just what is all the commotion about, in this often ignored country? If it wasn't for the oil, hardly a person would turn a page to read the accounts. The ousting of President Hugo Chavez is not a great surprise. Just business as usual for that part of the hemisphere. But what a shock to see the will of the 'people' express itself with his return to power! Or is that the whole story? As this episode unfolds, what can we reasonably conclude?

The Art of Political Conversation

Anyone who has the courage to engage in discussions on the current condition of world affairs, knows all too well the feeling of talking with yourself. Dialogue once meant debating ideas. Today "Political Correctness" demands answering only the questions you agree with and ignoring all those that may differ with your viewpoint. This gentile characteristic of avoidance in the unpleasant, has become the mainstay of the mainstream. The subconscious motivation seeks acceptance. You have to go along to get along . . .  The last mortal sin is offending. And any notion of critique or criticism of sacred cows, is viewed as the purview of the fool. Such splendid standards for political discourse has now been raised by the neoconservatives to a higher plateau.

Justice Is The Real Hope To Restore Conservatism

The Republican Party has its most success at the polls when it advocates the traditional values of conservative principles. But support has been soft at best, with the adoption of the New World Order value ethos. The heritage of past purpose and political will has been substituted with a jelly spine backbone, seeking popular appeal. So what is the solution to resurrect the mantel of design that seeks to serve the interests of the American people? Well, the GOP needs to take its lead from the most successful strategy that the Left has used to justify their message to the public. The concept of Justice as a focal point in intent has long been relegated to the basement with Republican parlance. We all know the arguments for defending Liberty.

The Senate - a Chamber of Shame

If there were any doubts as to the real nature of the United States Senate, they were dispelled with the disgusting behavior of the Democratic controlled Judiciary Committee's block of a floor vote on the confirmation of Judge Charles Pickering. Watching the depths of their ideological purity and the deceitful betrayal of their oath of office, should appall every American. Advise and consent does not mean exclusion from the will of the Senate. For a fanatical partisan committee to prevent their own party members from speaking their own voice and registering their vote is the height of pompous repression.

What Makes a Republican - a REPUBLICAN?

We have spent the better part of the last half century forgetting the reasons that Republicans are part of an American First tradition and the real meaning of the GOP. Just what are the principles and policies that separate the platform of Republicans from that of the Socialists that wear the Democratic label? Sorry to say, not much of a difference presently exists; let alone a dedication to enact legislation that counters the legacy of FDR. It wasn't like this - once upon a time . . .  For Republicans knew what they were all about and had an example of a true champion of principle in one, Senator Robert A. Taft.

Politics of the Existential Experience

There would be little disagreement that politics doesn't touch our lives in countless ways. But even more pronounced than the organization of society is the cauldron of the individual within the struggle of their own existence. Existentialism seeks to confront our need to make sense out of a seemingly irrational universe, and arrive at a sensible purpose even if it is not fully understood. Each person perceives reality through the filter of their own mind and experiences. The most basic reality is always personal. The individual must encounter and cope with the isolation and solitude of their own being, alone. Meaning can only be achieved one person at a time.

What Populism Means in Today's America

There was a time when people knew the intent of populism as well as they understood their own rights. Today our world lacks a sense of history and what they do know usually is a shallow summary of a lengthy account.  The significance of American Political Populism need not be dismissed.  For the future of our country may well depend upon its resurrection. The version for our times might well be called: Virtuous Defiant Populism

Pluralism Leaves No Other Option - LIBERTY Demands Secession

If there is any person left in this country that understands the significance of the American Revolution, they must admit our noble experiment has failed. This country is not one nation. Values that were once defended are commonly being destroyed. Belief in the natural dignity of man, has been usurped with a creed in the omniscience of man. The trail to national dissolution is embedded upon the foundation that pluralism is desirable. No better example, to prove this conclusion, is the case of the rational atheist. If one acknowledges that the idea of America holds out the promise of Liberty for All, it is impossible to achieve this goal when the godless meets the God fearing.

Keep it Basic - The Business of Government

Albert Jay Nock said it best:

"The State, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing."

The Bush Crusade Against Terrorism

Our holy father, President George W. Bush has embarked on a quest that will muster the faithful of righteousness against the forces of darkness. Or so we are led to believe. Where have we heard such appeals to fight a bitter war to make the world safe for Democracy. This time the only resemblance to democratic self determination is a required acceptance of the New World Order.

Bush the Next FDR?

These words seem to project calls to action that many will accept as being reasonable. But what exactly are the methods and consequences for following such goals?

The USA Freedom Corps! What exactly is: "extending American compassion throughout the world." ?  It sure rings like nation building, doesn't it? When Bush seeks to expand the AmeriCorps, Senior Corps and the Peace Corps it sure sounds like the Civilian Conservation Corps of FDR. Just what does 'voluntarism' mean for George Jr?

Patriot Act another RICO?

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act of 1970 and the Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (PATRIOT) Act of 2001 may go down in the record books as two of the most notorious laws in U.S. History.  Both were passed by Congress in order to address the perceived nationwide crises of their respective times-- the former in an effort to crack down on organized crime and the latter in an attempt to protect America from the threat of terrorism.  But are these laws solving our immediate problems or simply creating new ones?

The Philosophic Foundation for Politics

At the risk of disturbing the slumber of the lethargic, the case in favor of politics needs to be made. With the distraction that passes for understanding, few have a grasp on the nature of social relations. Politics is normally defined as the activities or affairs of government. But it really is the art of human relations, applied to the organization of society. The basis for government grows out of the perceived need to establish order. Rules are the results of a desire to construct a road map for society to function. The confusion that litters the highways, rests upon a false understanding of how those arteries are constructed and where they are going. The philosophy of politics can supply the answer, if only you have ears to hear.

Capitalist Owners of the Corporate Economy

As any school student knows, Capitalism is supposed to be based upon ownership of a business venture. Whether private or corporate, this proprietary claim is founded on the principle of property.  To deny the legitimacy of this right, is to forego the sovereignty of the individual. For People to be Free, they must retain the right of ownership, especially as applied to a business. But owning a company does not guarantee that its control is under your command.
